Hello World

Half-lit the screen, and half the heart that dreams,
I typed a name no market yet had claimed—
A little kingdom, small as moonlit streams,
Yet mine alone, and by no other named.

Let others build their houses tall and vast
On rented ground where landlords hold the key;
I'll raise my rafters here, and hold them fast,
A humble roof, but wholly, truly free.

The registrar's dry ledger cannot know
What tender thing I mean to shelter there—
Not code alone, but all the words that grow
Between two hearts who chose this house to share.

So here's to us, and here's to what we'll build:
A home unrented, and a promise filled.
